Using the Library

What the library can do for you

How to Apply for a Library Card

There are two ways to register for a card.  You may complete an online library card application and a confirmation postcard will be mailed to you. If you apply online, please bring your postcard along with an approved form of identification (listed below) to any branch to receive a library card.

You may also register in the library using a valid form of identification and a postcard will be mailed to verify your current address. You may check out 2 items at a time until the postcard is received and shown to one of our staff members.

The following list of identification methods are considered acceptable for opening an account with the library:

  • Consular Registration
  • Driver’s License issued by a U.S. state or territory
  • Employment Authorization Document Card/Work Permit
  • International Driver’s License/International Driver’s Permit
  • Passport
  • Permanent Resident Card/Green Card
  • Photo ID issued by a U.S. State or territory
  • U.S. Military ID
  • U.S. Visa

Individuals who cannot produce at least one of the above forms of ID are ineligible to apply for an account with the Logan County Public Library. These individuals are free to use library resources and spaces that do not require a library card.

A parent or guardian with valid identification must sign for applicants under the age of 18.

Existing Card Holders

To replace a lost or damaged card, bring a valid form of identification to any branch and a new card will be issued to you for a $1.  To report a stolen card, please contact us as soon as possible.

Book Requests

If you want an item that we don’t have, don’t fret! We can probably get it for you.

Head over to the book requests page to see if we can get it for you.

Computers and WiFi

Use the library computers for free to access the internet, build spreadsheets, use library databases, and more.  Free Wi-FI is also available at all branches for your personal devices.

Can I save my work?

Please bring a USB drive to save your work. Anything saved to the computers will be lost when the computer shuts down.

Do I need a library card to use the computer?

Yes! You must have a valid library card.  Visitor passes are available to those who do not reside within the county.

You don’t need a card to use our Wi-Fi on your own device.

How long can I use a computer?

Computer access is offered on a first come, first served basis and may be limited to 30 minutes if others are waiting.  If no one is waiting for a computer, you can use it until another patron requests access.

Headphones

You are responsible for providing your own headset to use with our computers. You can purchase ear buds from the library for $1.00.

Getting Computer Help

We do our best to help you with computers as time permits, but cannot always offer personal instruction. Free one-on-one computer assistance classes are scheduled twice a month to answer questions and help you figure out your devices. They are first come, first served, so check out our online calendar to see if there is one that fits your schedule. If not, give us a call and tell us when works best for you and we will do our best to plan one then the next month.
