Why the Library is Expanding

Programming and event space has become an increasingly important part of what Logan County Public Library (LCPL) offers to the community. In addition to engaging programming for children, teens, and adults of all ages, having spaces for community groups to gather helps LCPL achieve its vision: bringing people together to broaden our sense of family and community. Our spaces are used regularly by everyone from Scout groups to regional service providers that need a local place to meet with clients.

While the library building is still relatively new, we could not anticipate the explosion of growth the last 12 years would bring. We went from averaging under 20 programs a month–mostly storytime and a few computer classes–to well over 50 for all ages and we can no longer provide enough space when patrons want to be here.

Through several years of surveys, research, and strategic planning, it was determined that to help the library meet the current needs of our users and prepare for the future of the community, that an expansion of the main library would be required.
