Drop Your Drawers

@ the Library

Briefly speaking, the Logan County Public Library needs your help for a good cause. Drop Your Drawers @ the Library, a cooperative effort with libraries all across the state, seeks to make sure that every child shows up to school and stays in school for the whole school day in clean underwear that fits.

Drop off packages of new underwear for boys and girls, preferably sizes 4-16, from November 1st-December 23rd. Donations will help replenish the City and County elementary schools’ supplies of emergency underpants and provide direct assistance to each school’s Family Resource Centers.

Underwear is a basic need and one that is easily forgotten. Between all 6 elementary schools in Logan County, 1,000 pairs a month are handed out to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or issues at home. Because parents often are unable to afford or bring fresh underwear to their children during school hours, children can miss valuable learning time in the classroom.

The Library’s goal is to receive 2,000 pairs. Underwear will be distributed evenly to all 6 elementary schools in Logan County. The schools are: Stevenson, Adairville, Auburn, Chandlers, Lewisburg and Olmstead elementary. Socks are also greatly needed and those donations will be accepted during this drive as well.

Underwear and socks may be dropped off at, Logan County Public Library, 225 Armory Drive, Russellville, KY. 42276

The Drop Your Drawers campaign is easily recognizable by the popular character of Captain Underpants by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey.

The library’s collection of Captain Underpants’ children’s books will be on display (and available to check out) during the Drop Your Drawers campaign.  By all means, stay awhile and enjoy the library’s many services. (The visit doesn’t really need to be brief!)  For more information about the campaign, visit www.loganlibrary.org/drop-your-drawers-2018.
